Pawel Plaszczak interviewed for EnterTheGrid/Primeur MonthlyFriday, 29 December 2006In his interview for EnterTheGrid/Primeur Monthly, GridwiseTech's President Pawel Plaszczak commented on the idea of building a European Grid Agency to help the European Grid computing SMEs. EnterTheGrid/ Primeur Monthly is the world's leading magazine on Grid computing and HPC. The magazine has been collecting opinions of the Grid community regarding the "Study on Commercial Exploitation of Grid Technologies and Services", published by the European Commission. Pawel Plaszczak was asked to comment on the report's conclusions and recommendations. One of the discussed issues was the project of forming a European Grid Agency to develop a Grid computing reference model, as well as handle its implementation and IPR issues. The interview also touched upon Europe's leadership in Grids for academia and research versus the development of the European Grid computing industry. Pawel Plaszczak believes the problem is that the software, often produced in European projects, does not address the needs of the industry. The idea of building the European Grid Agency seems to be a solution against the rule of thumb in marketing, which teaches: make what you can sell (instead of trying to sell what you can make).
