The administrator then performs his magic, usually by means of a text terminal and some commands, to allow access by each interested individual. Distributed databases are often shared by sending dump files, either online or on optical disks, providing they’re allowed to leave the building.

A user who is a member of one of multiple institutions is able to log in once and use all the resources he or she has access to in a trusted and secure way.
Distributed architecture made simple The system’s architecture offers a visually rich, 3D interface to each user. With simple drag-and-drop actions, you can conveniently manage distributed resources by granting or revoking access to the assets they control.
User-friendly access management Drag users and resources into the workspace from available panels. Grant access by dragging-and-dropping connections. Revoke it by deleting links. Everything is intuitive and user-friendly.

Users

AdHoc is currently being used in the ViroLab community, where a network of 14 hospitals and universities across Europe have built a virtual laboratory to find an HIV cure. The ViroLab member institutions contributed substantially to the development of AdHoc, especially in the requirements and beta testing phase. AdHoc is not limited to life sciences and can be used in any domain of business, industry or science, where efficient sharing distributed assets is important.
